ICONA was launched in 2017 by Base Engineering, which, drawing from the acronym, developed the feasibility project for the reuse and urban regeneration of the “Mattoni Rossi” and the initial expansions by architects Figini and Pollini.

Its reinterpretation and modernization, along with its projection into today’s social context and the vision of the future that will come tomorrow, offer clear and profound keys to understanding and responding to change.

The factories, in our project, will be a place of experimentation, culture, knowledge and passion, a venue for the development of a new model of social economy, a factory of opportunity that nurtures and fosters relationships of reciprocity and exchange. Our hypothesized project, which takes its cue from an international workshop held within the facility, aims to generate innovative spaces in which digitized entrepreneurs, artists and artisans can grow, which will create a network of people capable of replicating the Olivettian model.
