ICONA was launched in 2017 by Base Engineering, which, drawing from the acronym, developed the feasibility project for the reuse and urban regeneration of the “Mattoni Rossi” and the initial expansions by architects Figini and Pollini.

Its reinterpretation and modernization, along with its projection into today’s social context and the vision of the future that will come tomorrow, offer clear and profound keys to understanding and responding to change.

In our project, the factories will become spaces for experimentation, culture, knowledge, and passion—a hub for developing a new model of social economy, a factory of opportunities that fosters reciprocal relationships and exchange. The concept we propose, inspired by an international workshop held within the facility, aims to create innovative spaces where entrepreneurs, artists, and digitized artisans can grow, forming a network of people capable of replicating the Olivetti model.
